This Asthma Action Plan meets the requirement set forth in New Jersey
law
N.J.S.A.
18A:40-12.8,.
In section C.18A:40-12.83B it states:
."..a requirement that each pupil authorized to use asthma medication
pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1993, c.308 (C.18A: 40-12.3), or a
nebulizer have an asthma treatment plan prepared by the physician
of the pupil, which shall identify, at a minimum, asthma triggers, the
treatment plan, and such other elements as shall be determined by the
State Board of Education."

The
Pediatric/Adult Asthma Coalition of New Jersey
School Task Force
Objective: all providers of public and private education in New Jersey
will understand and cooperate with the NHLBI Guidelines in partnership
of care for managing asthma.
Desired outcomes:
- Schools will utilize an asthma action
plan in compliance with the NHLBI Guidelines
- There will be a reduction in school
absenteeism for children with asthma.
