1. A Nebulizer
is required in each school as mandated by state statute NJSA 18A:40-12.7.
2. Each school
nurse is to complete the
PACNJ 3-Part Video Series Training - Asthma Management in the
School Setting.
This fulfills the requirement mandated by
state statute NJSA 18A:40-12.8.
3. Each school nurse is to conduct the
PACNJ Faculty In-Service Video program: ABCs of Asthma are All
'Bout Control.
This fulfills the requirement mandated by
state statute NJSA 18A:40-12.9.

Most school nurses have received this 20 minute videotape.
If you need another copy contact
info@pacnj.org to
discuss the steps to take to borrow the ABCs of Asthma for a
faculty in-service. The nurse should preview the
videotape, print out the handouts from the floppy disk or at
the following link: and then present this at a faculty
meeting. The nurse should be able to answer any
questions from the staff following the presentation.
4. Each school nurse is to
view the
PACNJ On-Line or CD PowerPoint Presentation: Asthma Action
Plan: School Nurses
Leading the Way
and
take the online quiz.
5. The EPA
Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools Training course
is to be completed by one school nurse and
one
maintenance supervisor from
the school district. Each school is to establish an Indoor Air Quality Team.
6. The school superintendent is required to
sign the No-Idling Pledge for the school district.

Print out the NJ Department of
Environmental Protection’s No-Idling Pledge.

Mail a signed copy of the
No-Idling Pledge to Melinda Dower: NJ Department of

When all six criteria have been met,
download and complete the "Asthma
Friendly School Award Signature Form"
